It took ۸۵ working days, each layer continuing only after the previous one dried. The رنگدانهٔ معدنی palette follows the Persian miniature canon, pairing gold with lapis. At ۴۵ × ۳۲ سانتیمتر the work is ready for framing and interior display. The artist's signature and seal appear illuminated in the margin.
The story
مهناز افشار trained in the Isfahan and Shiraz miniature schools, and this work belongs to their personal series. To prepare paint, mineral stones were ground and bound with natural gum. The work took ۸۵ working days and the colouring was reviewed several times. Alongside making, the artist continues to research and teach miniature painting. Part of their work has been exhibited in Iran and abroad.
Gold leaf is easily rubbed; never take the work out of its frame. Keep miniature paintings away from direct light and humidity, framed behind glass with an air gap. Dust only with a dry soft brush — never a damp cloth.
